About us

Evernode Labs began life as a research project inside the Australian National University with funding from Ripple’s UBRI and XRPL Grants programs.

That research involved a collaboration between Scott Chamberlain and Richard Holland to pilot various use-cases for smart contracts within the XRPL ecosystem. The external dev team from Geveo was engaged to handle the programming load.

The collaboration culminated in what we now call the Evernode Protocol, two codebases (HotPocket and Sashimono) that together enable a new way of deploying powerful smart contracts via the internet.

Along the way, we developed various prototypes, including a decentralised Self-KYC application, an EVM Contract, an NFT project where all the metadata was saved on-chain, and a platform for tokenising and trading interests in Australian cattle. All these prototypes ran successfully on our Evernode Protocol.

In January 2024, Evernode Labs licensed the Evernode software to the world by launching the Evernode Network, a new global, permissionless, “layer 2” smart contract network that already boasts +6,000 hosts.

Now that we’ve launched, we’re on a mission to explore, build, and promote all the wonderful ways this software can help humans thrive without middlemen, gatekeepers, or overlords.

Join with us in building this decentralised future…
